19th Annual Rutgers Turfgrass Symposium

The Center for Turfgrass Science at Rutgers University will host the Nineteenth Annual Rutgers Turfgrass Symposium on Monday, January 11, 2010, at the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences.  Invited oral presentations will run from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in Foran Hall, Room 138A. Dr. John Stier (University of Wisconsin – Madison), an internationally recognized specialist in the area of turfgrass management, will present a keynote address entitled “Can Rain Gardens Stop Urban Runoff and Recharge Groundwater?”  This year's symposium will focus on current turf research accomplishments from a wide range of basic and applied projects at Rutgers and other institutions in the US.

Individuals conducting turf research are encouraged to present their findings in poster form.  Posters will be displayed in Foran Hall lobby all day Monday.  A 4' x 4' display board will be provided for poster presentations.  All principal investigators who are currently receiving Turf Center funding are expected to present either a poster or an oral talk (by invitation) of their research and provide an abstract of their presentation by December 15, 2009.  Abstracts will be published in a Symposium Proceedings and distributed at the time of the meeting.  Past Symposium proceedings are archived under Research.

Production of the Symposium Proceedings is not a simple task; therefore, please submit your abstracts on time.  Abstracts can range from a short paragraph to no more than two pages in length, using a 12-point font (Times New Roman).  Please submit the abstract using Microsoft Word, so that it is RECEIVED NO LATER THAN December 15, 2009.  Please submit the abstract as an e-mail attachment (MS Word format) to bfitzgerald@aesop.rutgers.edu.   For additional information, contact the Symposium editor Dr. Ning Zhang at 732-932-9711, ext. 162 (e-mail: zhang@aesop.rutgers.edu).  We look forward to seeing you at this year's event.
